2008 Heritage Conference
General Information
The Washburne Historic District in Springfield was just one of the places by tours from the 2008 Oregon Heritage Conference.

More than 300 people attended the 2008 Oregon Heritage Conference which had the theme of "Go the Distance! Sustain Oregon's Heritage". The conference took place May 4-6 in Eugene. The 2009 Oregon Heritage Conference will take place in the spring in Portland.
 
The theme highlighted Eugene's unique track-and-field sports heritage, but also inspired and educated people for preserving and developing Oregon's diverse heritage. The conference also included the second presentation of of the Oregon Heritage Excellence Awards.
 
Authors James Loewen and Bob Welch were the keynote speakers. Evenings will featured historic Oregon films or films about Oregon history.
 
The Oregon Heritage Commission was the primary organizer of the conference, with assistance from the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries, the State Historic Preservation Office, and heritage organizations and agencies in the Eugene-Springfield area.
